As an entrepreneur I've tended to ignore happiness but studies are now showing we can actually control our happiness.
So here are my personal learnings based on research and what I'm doing to feel happier each day 😊
The more emojis the better.
🏎 That new car that goes vroooooom
Study after study shows us that dreaming and striving towards material things does not make us happier.
📱 The new iPhone (you know the one with all the features)
Sad right? Those commercials are lying, that new phone won't actually make you happy.
💰 More money, or at least a pay rise, I deserve it!
Did you know for every $1 more you earn, you think you deserve an extra $1.40! Money doesn't equal happiness.
📺 Netflix & chilling
Okay, this time I actually literally mean watching Netflix. Studies have shown for every hour of TV we consume a week, we spend an extra $208 a year.
📞 Social media (uh-oh)
Yeah, you probably knew this one was coming. Just like watching TV, our brain makes social reference points whenever it can.
🙋♀️ Make a new connection
A new study has shown that feeling lonely can have the same impact as smoking 15 cigarettes a day 😨
🎁 Do something nice for others
It's easy to get stuck in our heads, so let's do something for others. Bringing joy to others often leads to feeling happier ourselves.
